GARY DUDELL, Ph.D., L.M.H.C., C.A.P., C.R.C.
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with over thirty five years of experience providing individual, couples, family and group counseling in the Tampa Bay area. Along with my private practice, I’m a full time faculty member of the Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling Department at the University of South Florida. My professional credentials also include being a Certified Addictions Professional, Certified Rehabilitation Counselor, and clinical supervisor for registered mental health interns being trained to become licensed by the State of Florida. Along with holding three graduate counseling degrees, I’ve had the pleasure of being trained by some of the finest psychotherapists in the country from such nationally known training centers as The Ackerman Institute in New York City and The Family Therapy Practice Center in Washington.
I believe effective counseling is a collaborative effort. We’ll work together to help you increase self-awareness, break unwanted and ineffective patterns of behavior, and develop perspectives and strategies to live more skillfully. The task of counseling is to help you build a more gratifying, richer, and effective life. I have many tools to help you do so.
Although my services include working with depression, stress, and relationship difficulties, much of my work is the treatment of excessive anxiety. Using a combination of clinical strategies including Cognitive-Behavioral and Mindfulness-Based approaches we will work together to significantly manage, reduce, and overcome debilitating anxiety.
I’m very fortunate to be engaged in work that has real meaning and importance. I strongly believe that counseling can be a very helpful tool to increase personal understanding and development, improve relationships, and learn effective strategies for everyday life. I’ve invested a great deal of effort, care, and energy in my own professional development in order to be the most effective therapist for my clients. I take my professional commitment to you very seriously and work hard to help you get more of what you really want in life.
